I recently had to get the camera into an unusual position of putting it 90 degrees off of horizontal. Because this request was a creative inspiration we didn’t have any kind of specialty head or rig to facilitate the request. Fortunately some quick thinking by myself and 1st AC Bart Bialasik, we came up with a very simple solution that worked equally as good as having a specialty head. Here’s what we did with what we had. We did have an O’Connor 2575 fluid head that does tilt to a perfect 90 degrees but on the wrong axis that we needed. So, we simply re-oriented the wedge plate 90 degrees to the dovetail plate and that’t it. Nothing complicated. It worked like a charm. Here you can see the orientation of the camera on the head and on a slider.
